Candidate shall have experience in the design of aircraft power systems and distribution, plus a wide variety of electronic components and COTS based products. Experience reviewing design proposals and drawings, developing design models/drawings, technical specifications, analyzing and resolving design issues in the areas of communications systems and related electrical systems and components. Technical writing skills for electrical power designs/systems and CAD experience are essential. Basic knowledge and understanding of computers and network systems are a plus. Experience and skill in troubleshooting electronics and electrical systems related to AC/DC power, serial communication, RF and fiber-optic systems are desired. Demonstrated ability to successfully work in a scientific/engineering team environment.
Must possess effective oral and written communication skills in order to communicate well and interact successfully with all levels of the organization. Must be able to manage conflicting deadlines, frequent interruptions, and multiple tasks. Possess technical flexibility and willingness to learn. Some travel may be required.
Job qualifications: Candidate must have experience designing aicraft systems – fiberoptics, military, flight systems. Use or familiarity is not enough – candidate must be a designer. Familiarity with MIL-std connectors, cable design, electrical analysis techniques and methods. Experience in qualifying equipment to EMI/EMC performance tests. Position requires a BSEE plus a minimum of 5 years'related professional experience. Four years of desgin engineer/related exempt level experience may be substituted for degree requirements. Must be a US Citizen and have the ability to obtain a Secret clearance. No relocation will be offered for this position. Ability to use a standard desktop (PC) computer and Windows-based tools to produce original documents including drawings, plans, procedures and reports. The individual's familiarity with commercial and special electrical, electronic cables and connectors, and computer test equipment enables performance of technical activities. This position requires physical ability to manuever around equipment in test labs and on ships and aircraft; verbal acuity to clearly communicate with personnel; and manual dexterity sufficient to use keyboards and control panels.
Desired skills: Understanding of shipboard and /or airborne equipment installation, process and identification of risk. Familiarty with RTCA-DO-160, RTCA-DO-178 and AS9100
Hours: 8am - 5pm
Hourly pay determined according to experience and qualifications.
